TOP CANDIES FOR HALLOWEEN

HalloweenHalloween 2015 is upon us! As we get older, we spend so much time thinking about costumes and where we’ll go on the big night that it’s easy to forget about the most important part of this great holiday…CANDY! We polled the office for some favorites. Let us know your sweet preferences in the comments!

I was a big fan of the SweeTARTS three-packs when I was a kid – I’d look forward to my lunches after Halloween, when my mother would put them in for dessert!

Lauren
Kraft caramel squares because my mom always had a jar of them in our house around Halloween, so they remind me of childhood. Plus they’re delicious and I like unwrapping them, like a mini present 🙂

Lara
Asking to choose a favorite candy is like being asked to choose your favorite family member. If I had to choose my favorite Halloween candy, it would be Candy Corn. I don’t know why it gets such a bad rap!

Alisa
REESE’S! As a kid, I never ended up with too many of these in my trick-or-treat bag but they were my favorite!

Melissa
Almond Joy Dark Chocolate is my favorite. Love the crunch. The little bite size ones… no guilt there!

Claudia
Twix minis! They are always my favorite but I like them even more during Halloween because those bite size version make me feel less guilt about how many I eat.

Brennan
Twix. Full size. No explanation necessary.

Gina
Dip n Stick – because who doesn’t love to lick a candy stick and dip it into more powdered candy goodness?

James
I seriously adored pop rocks growing up. And let me tell you that urban legend about your stomach exploding if mixed with Coca-Cola—not true! (I tried and survived!)

Haowei
I am new to Halloween because we didn’t celebrate this day in Taiwan. My favorite is the Extreme Sour candy. These candy look normal, but are really sour in the core. When I was a kid, I enjoyed watching my friends taking the candy and having really funny faces when they tasted the sour part.

GO BEHIND THE SCENES WITH DEMI

We’re excited to share with all the Lovatics out there that Demi has returned for an all-new Skechers photo shoot! After her recent fantastic “Cool for the Summer” single and video success, she’s back on-set getting started on the next phase of her ongoing Skechers campaign!  We shot and filmed at a loft space in Downtown L.A.. The space was visually as cool as her hit single, but the weather brought record-breaking heat that made the shoot a bit of a struggle in the old non-air-conditioned building. But with her adorable dog Batman on set to keep her company, Demi was a trooper and we were all rewarded at the end of the day with a beautiful roof-top sunset backdrop for the final few shots.

It feels really great to support a company that I actually love and wear. I have a ridiculous amount of pairs of Skechers in my closet. What I love about these shoes is they are very, VERY comfy.

MEGHAN TRAINOR SIGNS ON WITH SKECHERS

We’ve been holding a secret for a little while now…a second* pop sensation will be teaming up with Skechers!  Meghan Trainor, who everyone knows from her six-times platinum single “All About That Bass,” will be appearing in a global campaign for Skechers set to launch later this year!

In case you’ve been vacationing on Mars and don’t know Meghan Trainor, here’s a little background—the multi-instrumentalist independently released three albums by the time she turned 17. While still in high school, she was discovered by a Nashville publishing company and started writing tracks for hot country artists like Rascal Flatts and Hunter Hayes.

Now signed with Epic Records, Trainor followed last year’s mega-hit single “All About That Bass” with her debut album, Title, which entered the Billboard 200 album chart at #1 when it was released earlier this year.  The album’s second single, “Lips Are Movin,” has been certified two-times Platinum and the third single, “Dear Future Husband,” is platinum.

Meghan can currently be seen performing live at dates across the United States on her MTRAIN Tour. We pulled her aside for a few minutes to get her thoughts on the announcement and this is what she had to say:

I’m very excited to work with Skechers! I’m proud to get behind a company that celebrates style and being true to yourself! The shoes are SO comfortable and stylish too. I know my fans will love this campaign.

Watch this space for the latest behind-the-scenes details on the #MTrainSkechers campaign as they become available!  And don’t forget to follow Meghan on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as well!

*Don’t worry, Lovatics, Demi remains a major face for Skechers and we’ll be announcing exciting news that you’ll love in the weeks ahead!

BLOG TAKEOVER: RODOLFO RAMIREZ STYLES THE CASCADES

Skechers1

For fall I’m wearing Skechers Cascades boots, a perennial classic favorite. Their padded tongue, soft fabric lining, and cushioned insole made them the perfect choice for my line of work. As Creative Director of a fashion brand named Pocket Square Clothing I find myself taking on a plethora of different roles. Versatility in function is key for me; this made the Cascade boots ideal to take along with me on a busy day of fabric sourcing, meetings, and a dash of carpentry work in preparation for my store opening.

My personal style tends to take cues from my interest in patterns, prints, and textures which derive from my love of street wear and formal education in architecture. My look for the day features a mandarin color style chambray shirt, relaxed fit navy blue blazer, mustard color lapel flower for color, camouflage print cargo pants, and of course my Skechers Cascades boots. I find that neutral tones paired with a pop of color or print leave lasting impressions.

With an architecture background, I’ve always found form and function to be equally as important. My style takes from these cues (pocket, pockets, and more pockets). I find myself never having too many pockets; they serve me well when cutting fabric swatches, carrying sheers, color samples, sunglasses, and other essentials like my phone, keys and wallet. This same idea also rings true for the Skechers Cascades as they are extremely well crafted and ready to take on any work you throw at them.

The Skechers Cascade boots are offered in two colors and come with different shoe lace options allowing you to be as subdued or unique with your hiking style boot laces.

HOW TO CARE FOR SKECHERS FOOTWEAR

Properly caring for your Skechers means you’ll get to wear them for a long time! Here’s the best tips on how to take care of your new kicks.

Performance Shoes: Most Skechers GOwalk and GOrun shoes with non-leather uppers can be safely machine washed. Using a pillowcase or laundry bag to hold both shoes, wash on the gentle cycle and air-dry. Do not place shoes in dryer. We do not recommend machine washing the Skechers Performance Nite Owl luminescent shoes.

Nylon/Mesh Shoes: Most non-leather casual shoes can be safely machine washed on the gentle cycle and air-dried. Do not place shoes in dryer. Do not machine wash light-up shoes. Apply a fabric ‘rain and stain’ protectant to protect the shoes from water. For shoes with Skechers Memory Foam™ insoles, allow shoes and insoles to air dry for 10 to 12 hours to ensure the insoles are fully dry.

Leather Shoes: Apply a leather ‘rain and stain’ protectant before wearing in wet conditions. Use a leather cleaning lotion or spray to clean. Apply a leather lotion or oil periodically to keep the leather supple. Do not machine wash leather shoes.

Suede or Nubuck Shoes: Apply a suede and nubuck-specific ‘rain and stain’ protectant before wearing in wet conditions. Use a suede/nubuck cleaning product to clean shoes. Brush with a suede brush for best results. Do not machine wash suede or nubuck shoes.

Light-Up Shoes: Machine washing light-up shoes is not advised as it may damage the lights. Clean with mild soap, warm water and a soft cloth.

Skechers Foamies Kids’ Shoes: Machine wash in cold water with mild soap for up to 30 minutes. Air-dry for 10-12 hours to ensure your Skechers Memory Foam™ insoles dry completely. Do not place shoes in dryer.
